The project, which combines the duo's trademark sweet harmonies and worshipful, story-driven lyrics, is already gathering acclaim from critics. NewReleaseTuesday proclaims it to be the best project from the British/American sisters thus far and hails it for its "gorgeous blend of vocal harmonies…catchy melodies… and solid lyrics." Breathecast also cites the duo's "heavenly sibling harmonies" and adds, "…the sisters burst with a reinvigorating energy, but perhaps what is most rewarding about this EP is that it brims with Godly wisdom… Every song speaks of the struggles & joys of a life surrendered to Jesus Christ…". IndieVisionMusic's reviewer calls The Sonflowerz "one of my favorite independent bands ever" and recommends Love Walked In to fans of Meredith Andrews, Chris Tomlin and BarlowGirl.
Featuring five newly-penned songs and a reprisal of their inspirational radio favorite "My Adoration," Love Walked In flows seamlessly with understated instrumentation ranging from acoustic guitars to gentle strings. Kicking off the EP and bringing some of that "Godly wisdom" mentioned by Breathecast is "Little Lies," a song inspired by the duo's ministry to teens and young women. It is a song that calls listeners out of the lies they believe about themselves and sometimes hear from others, focusing instead on the beauty that God sees in them and the beauty of Christ shining through their lives.
From there, the project eases into the title track, "Love Walked In", a song of hope penned by Elissa in reaction to the tragic school shooting in Newtown, CT.
"Offering My Life" follows with a tender expression of surrender before the vertical "Speechless" that declares praises straight to the God of peace, provision and deliverance. And the sisters close the project with both a benediction and promise in "We Depend On You."
We need to see your face and be changed… We depend on You, God / Servants In the field working til the dawn
Based in Colorado Springs, CO, the sisters have been ministering together since their teen years when given the opportunity by their church to share a song they had written. Thirteen years later, Elissa and Becca remain committed to praising God and ministering to others, especially teens and young women. In October, they will follow the release of their EP with a new devotional book for girls 12-18 that was funded by their Kickstarter campaign. Additional information on the "Made To Shine" book and a "Made To Shine" interactive tour for girls will be announced soon.
